Job Description

NREL’s Communications Office is hiring a student intern to create internal and external print and digital materials and support public affairs activities. The position requires strong writing and editing skills, ability to create content for publication across multiple platforms, and ability to manage communications projects in a variety of formats. The position requires attention to detail and quality standards and skill in maintaining good working relationships with colleagues. The selected candidate will work closely with NREL communication and public affairs professionals to produce a variety of internal and external print and digital materials and assist in the delivery of public affairs programs. Duties generally include research, writing/creating, and editing print and digital content such as news stories, web and social media, digital signage, brochures, reports, exhibits, and multi-media, as well as supporting the delivery of NREL’s community, education, and visitor programs. The selected candidate will work under the direction of other colleagues and will work closely with project managers, writers, editors, digital content producers, and designers. The selected candidate must follow NREL editorial style, comply with NREL and DOE print and electronic publication policies, ensure high-quality products, and be comfortable interacting with external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation. Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Please Note: You will need to upload unofficial transcripts and a letter of recommendation as part of the application process.
