NREL's Transportation and Hydrogen Systems Center has a graduate/undergraduate intern position available. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing Graphical User Interface (GUI) for a battery electrical/thermal/life model auto-regression framework. This position will support R&D conducted in-house and by NREL researchers and with industry partners.
Job duties include, but not limited to:
Work with NREL researchers to develop a model auto-regression framework for battery electrical/thermal/life models
Work with NREL researchers to develop a user-friendly and modular GUI for the model auto-regression framework
Prepare GUI support documentation and present GUI training to industry partners
Document work in detailed technical memos, laboratory notebooks, and milestone reports
Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation. Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Please Note: You will need to upload unofficial transcripts and a letter of recommendation as part of the application process.
Experience in MATLAB GUI toolbox (GUIDE and/or App Designer) or Python GUI toolkits such as Tkinter.
Working knowledge of solving multivariable optimization problems using gradient methods and/or metaheuristic algorithms.
Experience in modeling and simulation of thermal, chemical, and electrochemical energy storage devices or systems.
Demonstrated research capability to solve challenging problems. Extensive programming experience in MATLAB or Python. Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and documentation skills. Demonstrated teamwork, creativity, innovation, and adaptability.
