Job Description

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) Communications Office is looking for an experienced communications project manager with strong writing and editing experience to lead communications projects for various operations-focused organizations within NREL, including environment, safety and health activities.

As a Communications Professional III, you will collaborate with other writers, editors, project managers, intranet manager, news editor, and work closely with graphic designers and web developers. You’ll manage multiple projects with limited supervision and exercise your strong writing and editing skills for both print and web. If you are a self-motivated individual who is interested in promoting NREL’s strong safety culture, can provide excellent customer service, develop targeted materials for employee campaigns, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and quality, and would be comfortable interacting directly with laboratory management, you are a good fit for this position.

Knowledge of employee communications and engagement best practices is required, as is strong attention to detail, adaptability to shifting priorities and deadlines, and ability to maintain good working relationships with organizational partners and other team members.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing or a related field and 5 or more years of experience in communications, public affairs, marketing or related field

Or, Master's Degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing or a related field or equivalent relevant education/experience and experience in communications, public affairs, marketing or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in English, journalism, communications, or marketing

  • 5-plus years of experience writing a variety of materials for employee audiences

  • 5-plus years of experience working in a CMS to manage web content

  • Experience managing complex projects

  • Experience working with environment, safety and health projects
