The successful candidate will conduct research in the area of power system modeling, with a focus on the impacts of renewable energy on distribution level power systems. The successful candidate will bring a strong track record in technical modeling and design, ideally on distribution level power systems. Prior knowledge and research in convex optimization and using solvers such as PYOMO, CPLEX is preferred. Research time will initially be spent on projects examining the planning on operational impacts of distributed energy resource technologies on the power system.
The successful candidate will be part of the Power Systems Design & Studies Group in the Power Systems Engineering Center (PSEC) at NREL. PSEC supports the science and technology goals of the U.S. Department of Energy and NREL toward a sustainable energy future. The center works with the electricity industry to optimize strategies for effectively interconnecting renewable resources and emerging energy efficiency technologies in the existing electric power system.
Working independently to develop new algorithms and simulation tools, as well as conducting case studies on existing models and tools.
Working with management and senior staff to develop funding sources.
Publishing results in technical journals/conference proceedings
Presenting work at conferences, symposia, and review meetings.
Following all Environment, Safety, and Health policies and procedures to ensure and maintain a safe working environment.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
