Job Summary

As a member of the Integrated Devices and Systems (IDS) Group’s research staff the successful candidate will conduct research in the area of new protection schemes for enabling ever higher levels of distributed energy resources to be integrated into the distribution system. Research topics of interest include real-time models/implementations of distribution system dynamics, stability and control as well as the development of novel protection methodologies.

The successful candidate will develop reports on technical work and input to technical publications and presentations, publish results in technical journals/conference proceedings; present work at conferences, symposia, and review meetings while following all Environment, Safety, and Health policies and procedures to ensure and maintain a safe working environment. A large amount of interaction with other IDS staff is expected as well as external collaborators.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience with Opal-RT/RTDS

  • Knowledge of legacy protection schemes for distribution systems

  • Advanced experience with power hardware-in-the-loop testing

  • Knowledge of IEEE 1547 DER interconnection standard

  • Excellent writing and communications skills

  • Ability to present technical results to a wide audience

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
