Job Description

We are experiencing record-breaking growth at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and are seeking a strong recruiter who wishes to be a part of advancing our mission. In this role, you will be responsible for recruiting scientific, technical, and operational roles from across the world. Your role as a recruiter will be to develop, design, and implement high-touch corporate recruiting strategies in support of organizational staffing objectives for a technically oriented workforce.

The NREL Corporate recruiter is responsible for delivering all facets of recruiting success throughout the organization. Engaged in developing local and national recruitment plans, building networking relationships with internal and external talent, and developing new and creative ideas for recruiting. This position will partner with multiple clients on a variety of positions which will include, but not be limited to, positions such as Financial Analysts, Subcontract Analysts, Business Support, Project Controllers, Research Technicians, Researchers, etc. These positions will be across the lab rather than focused in one group. This role requires experience in the following areas:

  • Likes to work in a fast paced and fluid environment.

  • Must be accustomed to and successful in an environment where priorities change often along with an eye for detail to manage compliance and administrative processes and the confidence to consult with and provide direction to clients as it relates to the recruiting and hiring process.

  • Responsible for full cycle recruiting process.

  • Develops a level of understanding of the market for relevant skill sets desired for the organization and builds candidates through networking.

  • Works closely with Human Resource Business Partners and all levels of management and staff to deliver an effective recruitment process.

  • Provide a high level of service when partnering with internal clients you are supporting the hiring the needs for.

  • Leads strategy and debrief meetings with internal clients.

  • Communicates to management regularly on open requisitions, candidates, and status of filing the position promptly and regularly.

  • Aligns, screens, and matches candidate profiles with staffing objectives.

  • Source applicants through various means including advertising, networking, job sites, conferences, career fairs, and niche internet techniques during and in advance of need.

  • Maintains effective relationships with social and professional networks to source qualified candidates.

  • Pre-screen job candidates by telephone TEAMS.

  • Inform candidates fully about the job and company.

  • Manage all communication with candidates including briefing and debriefing candidates before and after interviews.

  • Maintain accurate and current applicant database through the Applicant Tracking System.

  • Create and extend offers of employment within company procedures.

  • Manage the job offer including negotiation and administration.

  • Contribute to and maintain recruiting reports and metrics.

  • Employ innovation and keep current with sourcing strategies and industry trends.

  • Efficiently and effectively fill open positions while ensuring regulatory aspects of the full cycle recruitment process is compliant with federal and state legislation.

  • When appropriate and depending upon travel restriction may be required to travel to one or two-day conferences and/or career fairs 3-5 times per year. Currently all fairs are handled virtually.


Basic Qualifications

Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. General knowledge and application of technical standards, principles, theories and techniques. Frequent application of industry concepts and principles. General knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Skilled in problem solving, written and verbal communication. Ability to use various computer software programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting technical roles

  • Experience recruiting candidates for Finance focused positions

  • Prior experience with Workday a plus

  • Experience recruiting position for renewable positions


Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)

Annual Salary Range: $68,000 - $112,200

Offers will typically be made in the bottom half of the listed range. NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.

Benefits Summary

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; pension benefits; 403(b) Employee Savings Plan with employer match; and sick leave (where required by law). NREL employees may be eligible for, but are not guaranteed, performance-, merit-, and achievement- based awards that include a monetary component. Some positions may be eligible for relocation expense reimbursement.
