Job Description

As a member of the Integrated Devices and Systems (IDS) research staff for the summer the successful candidate will conduct research in the area of applied real-time simulation (e.g. Opal-RT, RTDS, etc.). This research will include the development of test cases for solar, wind, hydro and energy storage use cases, running these models for multiple scenarios, and compiling the results for dissemination.

The successful candidate is expected to fully participate in the IDS team attending group meetings, seminars, etc. Further, completed work will be published via technical journals/conference proceedings; conferences, symposia, and review meetings. The successful candidate will also follow all Environment, Safety, and Health policies and procedures to ensure and maintain a safe working environment.

Basic Qualifications

Must be a recent BSEE (or equivalent) graduate within the last three years. Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation. Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Please Note: You will need to upload unofficial transcripts and a letter of recommendation as part of the application process.

  • Recent MSEE graduate

  • Currently engaged in PhD-level studies

  • Basic knowledge of the power system

  • Basic knowledge of renewable energy systems and energy storage systems

  • Prior experience with real-time simulation tools

  • Excellent writing and communications skills

  • Ability to present technical results to a wide audience
